I don’t know what’s different about summer then any other season, but when the suns out, I just want to catch up on some reading. And now that schools are officially out and we can practically smell summer, it’s time to pick up some books to lug to the beach or on your next vacation. 1. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

This book, soon to be movie, is a murder mystery about a young woman who went missing. The book, told through the lives of three women, is gripping. If you liked Gone Girl, you’ll like this one.

2. Eligible: A Modern Retelling of Pride and Prejudice by Curtis Sittenfield

If you’re a Jane Austen fan, you would love this book. It’s a fun retelling of the classic Price and Prejudice set in New York.

3. The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer

Amy Schumer get’s down and real with her personal essays in this autobiography. It’s funny, light hearted, and an easy read while on the beach!

4. Beautiful Ruins: A Novel by Jess Walter

If you love a good love story, this book is for you! The story is about a love affair that starts in the 60’s in Italy and is rekindled in Hollywood fifty years later. This book will definitely make you go “awwwww!”

5. How to Ruin Everything: Essays by George Watsky

This book is a great read for anyone. The author, musician and artist George Watsky, talks about humorous moments that help make life bearable. The book is a honest reflection on his life that everyone can relate to! This book is out on June 14th!

6. Rich and Pretty: A Novel by Rumaan Alma

This book follows to sisters through their adulthood as they go from being insupportable to growing apart. If you have a sister or a best friend, this is a great book to pick up.

7. Luckiest Girl Alive: A Novel by Jessica Knoll

This book is kind of dark, but really intriguing. It takes you from modern day stories to reliving a creepy past. I would highly recommend it – it’s one of those books that when you start reading it, you can’t put it down.

8. One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories by B.J. Novak

This book is a collection of short stories that cover topics such as love, fear, hope, and ambition. It’s a quick read while on a plane or at the beach. I highly recommend it!

9. The Singles Game by Lauren Weisberger

From the author of Devil Wears Prada, this book is a tell-all about a socialite professional tennis player who finds herself in the party celebrity scene. This is an easy read and definitely fun to read while on a tropical island somewhere!
