I feel like I’ve experienced all the elements possible this winter. I spent half of the winter in New England and the other half in California. The two temperatures couldn’t be more different, but the activity level between the two states, is surprisingly, the same.

New FitBit data shows that while this winter may have dragged many states down  to extreme laziness, other states have been stepping up their game, despite the snow, hail, rain, and other weather conditions (like sunshine for those in SoCal.)

Here are the results:

The winner, New York, averaged 7,734 steps during the winter and 8,807 during the summer. This doesn’t particularly surprise me because walking is the primary mode of transportation in New York.

So props to these states. It’s not hard to get your body moving during the warm months of summer, but it definitely takes more will power and awesomeness to crawl out of your bed and tackle those wintry streets.
